Guild Events
Royal Preston will take part in the following events, commencing performances in May.
21st June: Royal Preston dance at the Longest Day Dance Out at the Lord Nelson in Croston. This is an event we attend each year.
23rd June: We plan to perform on the day the Olympic Torch passes through Preston on its route to Manchester.
5th to 15th July: There will be lots dancing in the City as this is the Big-Dance Period where anything goes as far as the type, style and dance culture.
18th July: "Guild Big Dance Evening"-Wednesday evening. The venue to be confirmed-probably the Continental in Broadgate.
18th August: There will be "a Day of Morris in the City" on this Saturday which is the Day of the First Proclamation of the Guild itself. This event will be an opportunity for all Local Dance Teams to perform on one day as part of a walking tour around the centre.
There will be dancing at a number of venues including the Flag Market, Friargate, Market Street, outside the Academy and a finale in front of the Harris in the afternoon. There are currently fifteen potentially interested teams.
7th September - Friday: The Guild Community Procession of people representing schools, the voluntary sector, charities, communities, sports clubs and uniformed and youth groups. Start time: 11am. Royal Preston will be there.
8th September - Saturday: The Guild Torchlight Procession will provide one of the most spectacular events of the year - we are looking forward to contributing Traditional North West Morris to the culture and pagentry that will be on show that night.
29th September: Royal Preston dance at the Guild Hall as part of the Lancashire Folk's "Day of Folk".
